Bay Tree Mould/Fungus?

Noticed some sort of mould/fungus on our Bay tree earlier. Any idea what it is or how to treat it?

    It's aphids. Cut off the distorted leaves and spray the rest with the hose. It doesn't need to be a gentle spray!
    I've never seen it on the branches of mine so maybe that's something else like scale insects
    In London. Keen but lazy.

    The branches look to have either holes or Woolly Scale insects. If they are raised, you will need to remove them. They tend to attack shrubs that are not growing in ideal conditions. Best way is to use a brush or stiff toothbrush to clean off. Are the distorted leaves on newer growth? Bay Sucker tends to attacks newly emerging leaves and if you unfurl the leaves, you may see white substances like a cobweb and sometimes the insect. If your shrub is badly affected, prune the branches off and wash the leaves.
