Someone has just given me one of these. Is it very invasive? Not quite sure where to plant it,will it be too much for an Arch? Thank you

    I love this plant.
We used to grow it up a fence.
It should grow up over an arch.
....better still get 2 plants...then you may be lucky and get the weird purple seed pods.
    See pic below.
It does sucker a bit on the ground, but is controllable.

I to, was given this plant and planted it very close to an box hedge (6 -7 ft tall) to help fill a gap. It has taken two years to get going, so no flowers yet, but the leaves are really pretty and I'm hopeful it will soon cover the gap. I'm told it can get a bit rampant though so only plant it where you can control it.  It also seems to resent being tied in and insists on doing its own thing!

Than you so much both of you,I think the Arch will be ok then,as I can reach it easily to keep control. It's certainly got weird pods, great photo!😁
