    If ph is to be pronounced ff,  why don't people live in Shefferds Bush or Claffam Common? 

    If Keswick is pronounced Kezzick, and the Mayfair store Fenwick's is Fennicks, why don't we call the airport Gattick?

    Yeah I know, great isn't it?  I've studied about six languages, and none has so rich a vocabulary as English.  I'm so glad I have English as my first language.

    The initial double f comes from Welsh, in which ff is pronounced like English f, and f pronounced like English v.
