Fungus hedge

I have an evergreen hedge in my front garden which has a white, powdery fungus that covers the leaves and disperses into the air when you walk past it. It tends to effect the hedge in the summer and it kills the leaves. The hedge looks otherwise healthy and is still growing well.

Does anyone know what the fungus is and how to treat it? It would also be good to know what the hedge is if anyone can identify it?!

Your shrub looks like Laurus Nobilis, Bay Laurel. It's suffering from Powdery Mildew which can spread through the wind and rain. The best way to deal with it, simply create an environment less favourable for it to thrive.

Prune away the affected areas, and promptly rake away dead and fallen leaves around the base. Thin out some branches to create good air flow around the bush. Finally, water the plants when the weather is hot and if there has been no rain for over a week. Lack of moisture in the plants will be the their main entry point. If the soil is thin, maybe lay a thick layer of mulch.
