Is this box blight?

2oaktrees2oaktrees Posts: 160
I had this in the pot and it was growing well. It started to put on new growth but the growth was paler than usual and not dark green and shiny like before. A week ago I planted it into the ground and since then the foliage has started to turn yellow.

As usual I improved the soil and added FBB before planting. Any ideas if this is box blight and how do I get rid of it please.

I assume you are doing all the right things like keeping it watered? I don't think you have anything to worry about yet, don't think it is box blight. It could be sun scorch or maybe its a bit colder where its planted than when it was in the pot. Just keep an eye on it.

If the leaves are a bit matt looking, that is normal. I don't see any signs of Blight.

The leaves look like natural fresh growth which tends to be lighter and sometimes tinged yellow. As it matures, the leaves will slowly darken and develop a more glossy appearance in the next 6 months.

I note there are some orange tones here and there. That could be environmental stress, usually seen when plants have been in quite cold areas and possibly had some inconsistent watering. If the plant has been quite root bound, it's best to tease out the roots to help them grow outwards rather than round in circles.

Any newly planted shrub will need to be watered-in well the first year or so. In the warmer months, they will need watering at the base and not over the leaves in late evenings or early evenings to avoid damaging the leaves. When watering, be generous.
