Are foxgloves perennials as I keep reading different ideas

    You can get both the wild variety.. and when we think of of medium sized purple/pink spiked are bi annuals. Some of the hybrid types I. E pames choice, suttons apricot are short lived perrenails that last 3 or 4 years

    They are classified as biennial but some individual plants grow as short-lived perennials.  I've had several wild ones last more than 2 years so there is some variation in the genes.  This has been bred into the varieties sold as 'perennial', but many find those are not very long lasting and sometimes don't come back after the 2nd year.

    There are also species such as D. ferruginea, D. lutea, D.parviflora and a few others which are perennial
