Box balls/hedging

Hi everyone,
My box has survived thus far and looks pretty healthy. However they are now covered with sticky snowflake like substance; as I brush my hand along it just falls off. Any ideas much appreciated.

I do agree it sounds like box sucker and a good blast with cold water should solve it.
