I have had two of these in my garden since I moved in five years ago, they have never flowered and never spread, they just keep coming back.  Can anyone tell me what they are?

When you say "they just keep coming back" do you mean they disappear in the winter and come back in the spring? Are you certain they never flower?

Papi Jo, thanks they die back in winter and reappear in Spring without flowering in the last five years I have been in this house.

Have you dug one up to look at the roots? I've had a day Lily and an Iris Sibirica that looked a bit like yours and they never flowered but came up every year. They would have different looking roots to a grass.
