Flower seedling ID, mustard?

soulboysoulboy Posts: 429
I recently sowed some summer annual mixed seeds. This is one of the seedlings and I seem to remember from previous years that it grows into a plant that I don't like to have in the garden, possibly a mustard plant.

As you can see from the pic's it first emerges as a pair of conjoined leaves. Does anyone recognize it?

Very difficult to tell seedlings apart by their seed and first true leaves but it does look a bit like a brassica at this stage.  Patience needed - don't remove until it is larger when you can get definite ID.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Don't forget that quite a few 'flowers' belong to the brassica family ... Lunaria, Hesperis matronalis etc etc  so don't rush to think it's something that you don't want.

Thank you both for your replies. This particular seedling is by far the most numerous to have germinated from the seeds I sowed. I was going to adopt the wait and see approach for one or two of them but I'll  do that for a few more following your advice.

Thanks Mary, you may well be right, I'll be posting a picture when I know what they are.
