Empty Nest

I recently had Robins nesting in a pot plant but they have now gone. I refrained from feeding and watering the plant whilst it was occupied so as not to cause any disturbance but it has been left looking in need of TLC which I would like to administer asap. Do I  remove the nest or do they re use it? thanks

  • They will not re-use the nest so you can discard it.

Woah!   I've known robins to re-use a nest for several broods in one year ... leave it there until September.

Legally you shouldn't remove a nest until after 31st August.

Thanks, I am glad I asked. Do they only re use it the year they make it or do they come back next year?

They won't use it again next year so you can remove it in September if you wish.

If you sit your plant pot in a large saucer, you should be able to water/feed it without wetting the nest.
