Will my asters survive?

Last year I planted three lovely healthy asters. The new growth keeps being eaten by slugs. I thought maybe, that it would be better to buy new plants. But now I think they are surviving, because I see some new healthy looking leaves. What do you think? If they don’t come up, I have a big empty hole in my garden..

Which type of asters are you growing please josine?

I may be wrong, but the small plants in your photos look very similar to my 'phlox paniculata'. They were also suffering as every new shoot became a slug buffet.
I've potted mine up and am growing them on top of a garden table until they bulk up a bit.

Hi Kitty, it is Aster Domosus ‘Herbstpurzel’.  https://www.vasteplant.be/catalog/index.cfm?fuseaction=DETAIL&TREFNAAM=ASHPUR
I planted them last year, in june. They are quite small asters, only 40 cm’s high. That is good advice, potting them up. I am going to try that!

I grow several michaelmas daisies and one of them seems to suffer from slugs early in the growing season, but it recovers, and the slugs don't seem to like the mature growth. So I would leave them alone.

Pot them would be the best advice.
