Is is this a hybrid? I have always grown D. purpurea and D. lutea but last year this pink form of lutea flowered. It’s leaves look the same but a little paler. There is a yellow one to the right in the picture. Will it come pink from seed I wonder.
I think that's a hybrid between lutea and purpurea. I had one and it didn't produce any seed but if yours does, mixed genes are in there and you could get anything
I'm no expert but I have foxgloves that look like that. The first one arrived uninvited four years ago, and in just the place I would have planted it. I thought all foxgloves were biennial, but to my delight, this one gets bigger every year, is flowering for the third year running, and has given me two generations of descendants. Each plant has slightly different coloured flowers. I recently learned (on this forum) that the Digitalis genus comprises about twenty species, some of which are perennial.
Thanks nutcutlet. So now I know they will hybridise. It had seed last year but I haven't tried to grow them yet, but I feel an experiment coming on. A new variety perhaps?...
I bought some lovely new variety foxglove plants last year two "Foxlight Ruby Glow" and "Serendipity"and they have not obviously come back as such. Do all digitalis hybridise? Are all digitalis biennials? I obviously know nothing much about these.

No, some Digitalis are perennial.
