Lavender disappointment

Back in my other house i had lovely long stemmed lavender. It attracted hordes of bees.

The lavender i have now is a real disappointment. Its in its 2nd year and is short and stubby. Especially the flowers. I've not seen a single bee on it yet.

It is in all day sun gritty compost and gets cut back at end of the season. I do it then as opposed to early spring because its so windy here it might get split. Here's a picture, what do you think?

I think it's hidcote.

Probably a Hidcote seedling, most Hidcote's are seed raised and somewhat variable.

If you want one of those long stemmed Lavenders, you should look for the type Lavender x intermedia plus cultivar name 'Grosso' is one, 'Grappenhall' is another..
These are 3 x 3 foot shrubs with some range and bulk, but flower till autumn.. and I guarantee you will have literally swarms of bees on them...

Oh I've just noticed you're in Belgium so I wouldn't know what is available there for you to purchase...

Thanks Malorena. The range here is a bit limited as garden centres are the usual stockists and nurseries seem non existent in this particular area of belgium.

Your suggestions are very helpful though as i now know what to look for and you never know, i might be lucky.
