Crocus bulbs producing embryonic flowers now (End May, beginning June)

I replanted crocus bulbs last September as they were very overcrowded. The ones in the picture were small bulbs growing on in a pot but the ones I put back in the ground have done the same thing. Can anyone tell me what has gone wrong?

    And when the turn orange=brown the seeds are ripe. Ants love them. If you sow them be prepared for a long wait, they can take up to 7 years to flower, though C. thomasiniana (spelled wrong there) can flower in a couple of years.

    Thanks for that... I’ve never noticed seed heads before on crocus!

    The weather has helped them set seeds these year. We even have had them on C. sativus for the first time ever.
