Good news for Nightingales

They are back! Watched that sad segment on Springwatch where that guy was tearful about the lack of them and we were also mourning their absence this year. The local woods this morning were filled with their lusty song. Wonderful! So if they have only just made it to Northern Spain, perhaps there is hope for the UK.

How have the numbers been near you?

That is good news as I have heard none at all this year.   Plenty of song last year and in May too but it was much warmer and drier last year.

I dont know what the numbers are but there is an area along the canal here where they have a sign saying that it is a protected area because there are nightingales. I really should take a walk along there late in the evening and see if i can hear any

Let us know when if and when you do hear any, Obelixx and Bijdezee, then we can track their progress up through France and Belgium.
