Moving This Plant

I have what I believe to be a Pulmonaria planted around a year ago, grown from seed sown around two years ago. Its size means it needs to be relocated. Is this able to be done and if so when is the best time? The plant gives the impression it is going to flower very soon and has suddenly shot up to nearly 1m tall. I hasten to add its size has surprised me. Thanks Mike Sharp

    That's definitely not a pulmonaria. I'm not good on the idents - it might be a foxglove or a verbascum - post it under a heading 'plant ID' and someone will give you a better answer. You need to know what it is to know if/when to move it.

    foxglove, or verbascum sound good to me , or maybe even teasel?
    It has the look of something about to flower, then obligingly die off. 
    If it were me , I'd let it do its thing then remove it if you still don't like it. If you do like it, gather some seeds and start again.

    Not teasel, too floppy.  I've got teasels, the leaves are stiff and prickly and grow almost vertically.  Possibly comfrey, if so, the leaves are rough and bristly. A useful plant, but dead head it if you don't want it all over the garden.

    Thanks for the comments so far. It was growing in one of some seed trays that were planted with Polemonium and Pulmonaria seeds. It didn't produce a plant after the first season but did once, I assume, the seeds were vernalised. It fitted all comments I read on-line for Pulmonaria. Lets see what the flowers do if and when it does flower.

    Pulmonarias are small plants, no more than 6-12 inches tall, and they flower earlier, so I have no idea what you have been reading!

    I think it is a verbascum. They can grow to be giants but you can dispose of after flowering - or before flowering if that is your want.

    you could remove two or three of the lowest leaves if they are shading out your other plants that need sunshine.
