Dodecatheon pulchellum 'Red Wings' Shooting star

Some help please, I have the above plant and it is now going to seed after flowering. If I collect the seed heads, do I plant them straight away or leave them to dry out before sowing.
Many thanks in advance.

any seed needs to ripen on the plant which usually means the seed capsule/pod turns brown and seeds rattle inside a capsule or fall off easily. After that you can sow or dry and keep for Spring, depending on the plant. I favour sowing fresh with hardy plnts

I find it a bit stiff when it comes to pricking out. I use a mix of that and MPC and often some grit. If I think it might be a slow germination I put grit on top, it stops the green stuff growing.
I have germinated Dodecatheon, I don't think it took too long. But I let it die in the garden
