Newly laid turf turning yellow.

Hello there all.
I need the help, albeit desperately.
Apologies for the long post
Having lurking around for some time now, since August 2017 precisely, I happened to lay my own turves on 26/4/18.
Preparation included rotavating the lawn in Sept 17 and adding compost and farm manure. Left alone till March this year, dug the weeds in March and sprayed glyphosate. Again left for 3 weeks.
Rotavated start of April, levelled, heel walked, levelled and added turf feed.
Lightly raked and laid turves on 26/4 afternoon. (immediately on delivery). Watered daily mornings for 30 minutes with oscillating hose sprinkler in batches for first week (2 hours total) every other day for next week, then twice weekly there on.

Lawn as on 13/5/18:-

First cut,   say ..... Scalped by swmbo ( rear wheels on highest setting but left the fronts at lowest level).
 DOH.

(I was abroad then). Have  mowed once on 28/5/18 myself on highest setting on both wheels now!
The problem now is that the lawn is turning yellow, looks like dead grass.
What's the best way to salvage please.
I need your collective expertise to help me please.
I have attached pics from now as well.

I am thinking of letting the ground dry, continue with weekly mow at medium height in the evenings followed by deep watering next day.
Please advice.
Many thanks for taking time to read the post and replying.
Much appreciated.

you only need to water turf until its rooted into the soil underneath, best way to check is to give it a tug, if it moves its not rooted, after that stop watering, you might want to give it a feed
  • Thanks tree hugger,
it's well rooted, double checked now at various places.

I am quite sure it will not be difficult to get that lawn going . It has been very hot and dry here.  Water and more water in the hot weather.

I would have thought that pulling out the brown grass might make it easier for unwanted weeds to take root.
We had 2x2cu mtr bags of garden soil on our front lawn and once the bags were moved it re-seeded very easily.  You have a lovely plot there you could do a lot with.

'You must have some bread with it me duck!'

  • Thanks Freddie's dad and Iamweedy.
This is the start of the canvas.
I have planted few perenniels in the borders and few plants going on in pots.
What other ideas can be implemented, low maintenance ones, (apart from concreting over HEHE)
    Thanks

  • So, Iamweedy, you suggest to apply more water, deep watering weekly or shallow for few minutes daily? Thanks
