Is my protea doomed?

Hi everyone! My protea was the first baby in my ever expanding conservatory jungle collection, but I feel like I have failed her. I had her right next to the glass in our south facing conservatory for the first month or so I had her, I think noticed what I thought were sunburned leaves so have moved her to a light, but shadier place. Now her flowers are dying I obviously want to prune her back, but I’m scared that will involve taking the last healthy looking leaves away from her. My two questions are: are the boots leaves sunburned? & will leaving 10cm of stem as recommended kill this plants chances as all her green leaves will be gone? Obviously I only plan on pruning the flowering stalks, but the yellow/brown leaves are concerning me.
