What’s going on with my aloe ?

Hi I’v had this aloe Vera for around 3 years. It’s been doing great and as you can see from the photos it has new pups shooting up. The big plant it’s self tho looks really not well , bottom stems curving under, spongy feel to them and a tinge of brown . Any advice on how best to deal with this would be greatly appreciated

My guess would be that the plant is sitting in water collected by the outer cover. The mother plant may have rotted. Tip it out of the pot and carefully remove any soil at the neck of the plant. Pot it back up in JI no. 2 with added grit only to about an inch below the neck of the plant. Top dress with grit and make sure the water is draining right through the pot ie. don't put it in a pot cover.

I very rarely water mine, just keep it in the bathroom. It stands on gravel in the saucer, and the watering is done from the bottom, never standing in water.
As Hogweed says,it looks as if its rotted, but the babies should be fine! Don't kill them with kindness.😃
