Identify plant please.

Would anybody have any idea what this is please?. In the autumn it develops a column of red berries which look like those poisonous things I was warned not to touch when I was a kid (Cuckoo Pint?). Thanks.

    Yes, Iris foetidissima ... lovely in shady semi-wild and natural plantings ... one of my favourites especially when the brilliant vermillion berries shine across the garden and I can see them from my studio  :)

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
