Weedkiller

I recently bought some SBK Brushwood Killer Tough Weedkiller.

I used it on some nettles, brambles and other weeds popping through my lawn last week. I understand that it can take a few weeks to properly work. In that time, how is best to let the weedkiller work?

If I don't cut the lawn for a few weeks, it will become unsightly. Do I go around the weeds, or can I cut over them after a week or so?

Thanks

If you have used Brushwood Killer on weeds in the lawn you need to prepare for areas of dead grass soon too.

Nettles and brambles in a lawn will not survive regular mowing, at least once every four days.  I would only use SBK on stumps after cutting down the majority of the plant, when it is an overgrown area.
  • So regular mowing is still ok? I just didn't want to shave the top off some of the weeds and the weedkiller not have had enough time to do it's magic, essentially rendering the task useless.

SBK doesn’t kill grass apparently, but I can’t imagine it will have much effect on nettles or brambles unless they are very large and woody either. I’d just give it a regular close mowing and as has been said the nettles and brambles won’t survive for very long. If you have lots of lawn weeds and want to use a chemical treatment you would be better off using a weed and feed. SBK is more for selective application to larger woody weeds really

How long after using a weedkiller does it start to make it's way into the root? I've just done another spray tonight on some new ones that have popped up.

I don't want to cut over them in 3 or 4 days if it takes a week or 2 or have any effect on the roots.
