What am I. Friend or Foe ?

I have just found, at least, 6 of these wee things on top of my garden waste bin. Does anyone know what they are and are they friend or enemy.  Thanks

Thank you B3 and Kitty,  I had a feeling they were but have never seen them before.

    That's great Pauline.  :)

I wonder how many people would see those and assume the worst - before squishing them..... :(
That's the beauty of a forum like this too - you can post a pic and get an almost instant reply :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

PF. No it's a 1p piece I dug out of my border to give an idea of the size of the bug.

What l like, is that of all the areas in your garden they could be, they have chosen - the bin lid! Could they have crawled out from inside it ?

Possibly AnniD. I have been opening and closing the bin most of the day,  I have left it wedged open a little bit now.
