callistemon bottlebrush losing is red brush

Hi I wonder if someone can help me.
I planted a callistemon bottlebrush.
But when it has come out it stays red for few days then it start to lose them.
Just asking if this is normal or I am doing something wrong.

I'm afraid this is the 'norm' for Callistemons ; flower for a few days and then it's all over !
Took mine out years ago and planted something more floriferous .

Hi @nicoa2883 this is normal for bottle brushs as I had 7 and lost them all to the best in the east...such a shame beautiful plants but they can't tolerate cold temps keep going up and down but they're ok at freezing levels which stay the same more or less and they adore the sun being an Australian plant plus Bee's adore them, as you've probably noticed.

If you prune away stems hanging it regenerates the plant even better, I used to keep mine shaped in balls.:)

I'd always thought the same about bottle brush not being able to withstand the cold, but ours came through the Beast from the East and flowered well this year.  It's not in a particularly sheltered spot so I think I was just lucky.

They can servive it's according to how low freezing temps drop, as mine went through some winters from when they was young upwards to what you see on my picture but the beast of the east going really low and then rising just a touch then dropping fast, they couldn't cope with that...I just adored them but losing 7 in one winter well it destroyed me in a way with the care I took in them :(
