Mealybug treatment for watering in?

I'm sure I've used a mealybug treatment that I watered in, not sprayed on.  Am I imagining that, or is there such a thing?

The only controls that I know of for mealybugs are:
    Biological
    Cryptolaemus, a predatory ladybird.
    Leptomastix, a parasitic wasp.
Atheta coriaria, a rove beetle, for treating root mealybug.

    Chemical
    Fatty acid sprays
    Natural pyrethrin sprays
    Sprays based upon plant oils

None of these are watered in.

To be honest, I have found that the best treatment for mealybugs is to paint the bugs with olive oil, which blocks their breathing pores and suffocates them.
    Works for me every time!
