pear Tree in a sorry state. I have read a number of contrasting suggestions of what it could be online, but was wondering if someone could let me know conclusively. Is it treatable? Can it affect other plants etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Have you inspected the branches? Have you seen blackened stems leading to the leaves? It could be Fireblight, and not always obvious in spring time. The only way to deal with this is to prune out all the infected areas, and you can end up with a really unsightly tree but is the only way to deal with it.

Branches seem fine, but I will prune away and see what occurs. Thanks
Davidzoebird, thanks for the update with the branches. Because of what you have observed, and on looking at the photos again, I have noticed some small yellow specks on the affected leaves. It may be your tree is suffering from Pear Blister Mites. They are not as serious, but can be unsightly. Again, you can pick the affected leaves out, but not necessary. Collect fallen leaves and remove from under the tree.
