Carrots?

itsueyitsuey Posts: 42
I buried a load of kitchen waste in the garden before I planted anything; carrot peelings and ends, potato peelings, egg shells, tea bags etc, and the other day I noticed these had popped up everywhere. To my very inexperienced eye, they look like carrots?

Slightly unrelated - is this a chive? I'm fairly sure it is but I wanted a second opinion from someone who knows what they're talking about before I eat it. Sorry for the blurry photo, I did have a better one but it was too big to upload. Also please excuse my weeds, they are slowly being eradicated.

I don't think carrots will grow from peelings only seed. Pick off a leaf and rub it in your hand it should have a strong carroty smell if it is a carrot. Yes they look like chives again rub and smell.

Those are most certainly chives, As to the carrot lookalike, if those were in my garden they would be fumitory one of my more common weeds.

Pulled some leaves off and gave them a sniff, they don't seem to smell of anything, but I don't know if that's because they don't, or if I just can't smell anything any more. So I pulled one up.

I did put carrot tops in there as well as peelings, can you grow them from tops?
