' consider some of the extortionate cost for plants and delivery ' ...............not taking sides here, Steve, but I have a small nursery and mistakes can happen, same conditions and guarantees as if you were buying a kettle or a pair of socks on line, Coblands Nursery have done no wrong and it is most unfair to slag them off online like this. Re the carriage charges, I use a courier service, my plants are not insured, so any missing parcels I can claim my charges back, but the lost, or damaged, plants are my loss. That's life.
I have used Coblands in the past and found their plants to be healthy. Mistakes happen even in the best nurseries, and as they couldn't replace the plant with the one you require, they gave you a refund. If you read the problems that other people on the forum have with suppliers (there is someone having real problems with unhealthy yew trees), it could have been a lot more stressful. I know it's annoying as your planning has been disrupted, but it could have been worse.
I think they have been as fair as could be expected by refunding you and letting you keep the original plant personally. Whilst I appreciate your frustration, I dont think many companies would recompense you for replacing it from another supplier (and legally have no obligation to either)
Thanks for all your comments Obviously, the overriding feeling from you all is that they were correct to not pay for the delivery As for placing a review on the companies website, I see that as a constructive criticism that I have the right to do. They got my order incorrect and if any supplier in general does that and you decide to accept it and not question it, then in my opinion they will possisbly never really correct that mistake in the future. I will let you all know if the other 3 plants are what they are suppose to be. If they are not, then you will have one very annoyed gardener on your hands
I think Coblands have been reasonable and fair and you are expecting too much. If you're that obsessive about your planting schemes and colours perhaps you should consider buying in person and getting on the road to nurseries where you can see what you're buying.
Gardening is a pastime that requires patience, tolerance and flexibility because, try as you might, plants are living things and won't sit and behave like a cushion or a rug or a chair that can be precisely measured and colour co-ordinated. Weather, soil and light will all have their effect on how plants grow. Be prepared to embrace and adapt or go mad.

The only thing I was expecting was they got my order correct which they did not. It seems most on here accept these error, that's their choice but myself I expect good service if I am paying the good money As you are being rather blunt, I am not at all obsessive and if you view my garden you would see I put a lot of effort in to it as do most of us do. As for visiting nurseries, I do and I do not appreciate the inference that I should. A lot of specialist plants are normally sourced online or mayby you have devised another way. Please enlighten
