growing tall cosmos - rich soil?

    Last year I potted on about thirty Cosmos into old, ugly black plastic pots (don't know the size but bigger than the standard 2L) with some very poor soil.  I loved that I was able to put the pots - and even move them around to suit - into the borders wherever I wanted a bit more colour and height and the pots completely disappeared in my well-filled borders.

    The only downside was that just a few of them wanted to fall over, being a bit top heavy.

    Thanks for the thought. Good to know that they don't have a big and pushy root system. I might try that too.
