Hogweed looks like cow parsley or hemlock... Any easy way to
hogweed doesn't look like either of those other 2. It has thick solid leaves, the others have much divided leaves

  • Thanks Pansyface and Nutcutlet, I definitely have some poison hemlock in my garden... I always assumed it was cow parsley... I am diverting from the initial subject sorry but what is the best way to dispose of the plants since they are highly poisonous? Just realised my 2.5 year old picked one of these not so long ago and I am absolutely horrified now!

they only kill you if you eat them. I grow them as ornamentals and put them on the compost heap when finished.

  • Thanks Nutcutlet, no risk of burn with those? Well I am glad this conversation came up anyway. I suppose I have lots of other poisonous plants in my garden (foxglove, lily of the valley) that are probably as dangerous as hemlock. ..
Now that I know I will be very careful... not sure if I will keep them but they are indeed very pretty...

as said earlier, many of that family have the possibility of affecting skin. Wearing  gloves will avoid that. They don't all do it every time
