I found with my Hosta’s that it’s tiny snails that eat the leaves and they live up there, in the leaves, so no point in slug pellets on the ground.  I try picking them off but there are loads of them. The garlic spray didn’t work.

@Lyn Yes I have looked for small snails as I was aware of this too but i cant find any yet.
@B3 What do you suggest for these monsters, found under a plank of wood on my Allotment. Never seen one with spots on before.

A leopard slug! They're one of the best slugs you can have in the garden as they don't really eat living plants and snack on other slugs. They're behind the scenes working hard for you breaking down all the rotting plants and fungi to keep your garden neat and your soil healthy. Plus as slugs go they're pretty nice looking things.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Quite a few of the types have spots and stripes. I don't find it that easy to spot which is the leopard slug, esp in the dark.

Do you think Heston might produce a recipe for slug porridge?
he does snail porridge doesn't he? Only a small difference....
    A. Boy - we get loads of those here. They are meant to be the good guys.  :)
B3 - you could try tethering the slugs by their antennae... ;)

As the leopard slug is supposed to be a great cannibal, they all seem quite cosy.

It's like the plot to a horror movie.  Leopard is all chummy with his friends under the plank.. but them seem to be disappearing one at a time.  No one's seen Bob since yesterday.. and Freddy has been missing for several days.  Rumors are starting.. but no one suspects the wolf in their midst.

Are these leopard slugs?  They are the right colour, but not as spotty as the above. Any thoughts?

    I

    That isn't very spotty, either.
