Daniel Daronda Clematis.

Does anyone have one of these?  I am amazed by the size of the flowers,at least 6 inches across,I don't think I've ever seen one like it. I bought it as I couldn't find a Jackmani at the time, and thought it looked similar, but it's twice the size!

Yes I have it too.  They are very large, a bit too big for my taste, I prefer smaller flowers on clematis, but it's growing well so I'll leave it in...   the early blooms are more semi double and a little smaller..than the ones appearing now..

Yes I would have preferred a bit smaller flower as they look a bit bedraggled after rain! It's on an arch so I'm hoping it will intertwine with a red climbing rose, and an Ernest Markham clem.

If you buy the new Austin rose 'The Mill On The Floss', and combine it with your clematis - I think they would go well together - you will have a George Eliot ..duet..  and very nice too...

I was bought one as a present a couple of years ago ... it's a bit temperamental ... I'm not sure which of us is going to get fed up first .. Daniel Deronda or me  ;)

I got fed up with him very quickly Dove.
He must have known I wasn't impressed - turned his toes up the following year, so I took the chance to sling him... :D

I’ve got a couple that seem to be thriving on neglect.  This is year 3 and they are strutting their stuff through a cherry tree.  Certainly not a shy retiring chap  B)
