From my experience, you need to be concerned about yourselves as much as your pets. Even if you don't have pets, ticks can be brought into your garden by foxes and cats. I think we should assume that yes - your garden has ticks.
I'm not sure I'd know a tick if I saw one. I keep being bitten but I don't know what's doing it. And this thread is making me paranoid. I don't generally do paranoia.

I get bitten all the time by anything with an appetite. I'm very tasty. I just watch out for the bullseye rash. If you get it it's two weeks of strong no drinking alcohol antibiotics
Yip a couple of years ago when cutting back fearns in my garden one attached itself to me ! Had to keep it all day until my sister cam home (she had a removal tool) and she said it was the biggest one she'd ever seen ! I'm central Scotland. Dr wasnt concerned when i raised it with her as i didnt have the rash.
@Obelixx, I'm concerned that you're taking Bravecto. The internet strongly suggests it's carcinogenic. Animal medicines aren't tested on humans, but its active ingredient is in the same family as known carcinogens...
