Cherry tree gift.

As a gift we were given this young cherry tree. It's been put in bigger pot and has had some tomato fertilizer but I think it needs pruning desperately. How do I encourage upward growth and a tree with a more usual shape lol. It does have about 5 cherries growing on it.
