Camellia help

Hi All

Can anyone tell me what has happened to this Camellias? 

Buds appeared in March / April but it has since shrivelled up and looks dead!  :( It looked fab last year.

    The whole shrub looks like it's had wind/cold damage. You must have noticed it drying up? There has been some extreme weather in spring, and it looks like your shrub has been badly damaged. Not sure if it's nail in the coffin yet, but wait a bit more to see if any new leaves emerging. If not in the next few weeks, I think your shrub has unfortunately died.

    Maybe try scratching the bark low down on the plant and if there is any green. Cut off a small branch and see if it's dead.

    There's some green there!  Maybe worth pruning it down really low and waiting till next year?

    It's sometimes hard to tell from that type of test. I recommend you lightly prune it back and wait. Mulch around the base and water using rain water if there are dry spells in temperatures above 23 degrees.
