Overgrown garden

Hello - so I’m looking for some advice. I’m taking on this garden to help my mother in law who cannot cope with it. It’s a big space and it is so overgrown with weeds and wild grass. Mow ... not too short ... and it'll look awful to start with, but if you keep mowing regularly you'll soon get an acceptable lawn ... it'll not be a bowling green or a tennis court, but it'll look fine and enable folk to use and enjoy the garden ...
