Plant ID
Hi team,
Having recently moved into our house i wondered if anyone could ID this plant please.
it is on a south facing wall under thatch roof which would explain the black debris found on the leaves.

orover, it hasn’t flowered or shown much new growth over the past year. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

The sooty mould will have been caused last year by bugs.
It'll slowly disappear with rain, so long as the bugs have gone..
I find that it's usually Scale Insects that are the cause
Some info from the RHS Here
PS - I find the best way to prevent the scale insects in the first place is not to let the plant dry out over summer and give it a good mulch with compost/rotted manure in autumn and a spring feed of of blood, fish and bone.
This is one of mine last year - with a red clematis
The scent from the jasmine is very strong in summer

I think it might just need a feed as I have very sandy dry soil.
It's a lovely climber with a (sometimes) overpowering scent.
After flowering it usually has a massive growth spurt. I hack it back as and when, it doesn't seem to mind.
If your soil is dry and sandy some organic matter (compost/rotted farmyard manure) will help correct that. Some BFB/Growmore will help too. If you can stop it drying out you should avoid the scale insects that likely cause the problem.
Good luck.

Starting a new discussion is best for plant ID's.
Tagging onto another posters old thread, your query can get missed, especially when the OP has already been answered.
Good point Kitty. I rather think I am wasting space.
I am about to Freecycle it. Can't post a plant if you have no idea what it is.
A few more waiting to go as well .
