Yellow weed ID please

GuybrushGuybrush Posts: 172
Hi folks,

Hope you're enjoying this lovely weather. Can anyone ID this plant for me. I've never seen them in the garden before but this year they seem to be everywhere. They are about 2 foot high and have several small yellow flowers.

Cheers

James

Geum urbanum aka Wood Avens, Herb Bennet and others. A bit of a PITA as it seeds everywhere. I've been pulling some out this afternoon, just a couple of hours after getting back from a lovely week in sunny Cornwall  B)

Thanks Dove. It all gone now, hopefully before it seeded itself around. No idea where it came from. You certainly picked a good week to go on holiday. Hope you had someone watering for you.

    Cheers

We certainly picked the right week ... but we've never had a bad week of weather in Cornwall.  Thankfully my daughter (aka Wonky Womble) had all my baby toms and sweetcorn etc in her greenhouse for the duration, and my kind next door neighbour watered my containers and kept an eye on the seedlings in the veg patch ... as well as feeding the hedgehogs ... she received Cornish honey and fudge in return  :)

That's good, everything taken care of. 🙂 You really shouldn't have named your daughter Wonky Womble you know, I bet she got teased at school lol.

I removed some from my garden yesterday, although they haven't encroached [yet!] into the garden proper, they're at the rear boundary, in amongst the trees, but they can be a bit of a nuisance once they get going.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
