lifted tulip bulbs
My tulips bloomed well from newly bought bulbs which i have now lifted several weeks after flowering finished.
I have discovered the bulbs are divided into smaller sections which i gather should be stored in a dark and warm location.
As the bulbs are considerably smaller than the original,i wondered if they would still produce similarly next season or if i potted some in compost, would they be more likely to produce similarly next season or am i unlikely to get first year results from either method?

I prefer to keep tulips in compost in a spare pot and just keep them somewhere sheltered - not soaking, just damp enough to stop them drying out. The fancy ones tend to last a few years at best anyway, unless you can replicate their natural growing conditions
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
