Planted some small plants from Sarah Raven back in April  and they are now about 30 - 40 cm high and  flowering.  But they only seems to last a few days before dropping off. Either that or they are being attacked....

Is this normal with these young plants or do I need to do something to save them ?  Thanks

    The individual flowers only last a few days. Keep dead heading the spikes and they will flower all summer.

    That solves that ! Can you explain "spikes" please ?

    I deadhead other flowers by just snipping the head of the flower off with thumb and nail but are spikes something different ?
