Good news and bad news, Miss Daisy

The good news is that although your musa bajoo banana "died" this winter, he left offspring. :) The bad news is that there are 4 of them. :o

Dad banana was around 3m tall, I'm not sure my small courtyard garden can cope with 4 of them. Should I just give them a try?

You can split them off from the old plant, and pot each one up individually. If you dig the old plant up, the offshoots should all have their own roots.

Right, thanks Fidget. Is there an option to shear the pups off. My feeling is, that if I try to dig the old plant up just about every plant around will come out with it. :(
    (I do rather densely plant!)

/Sorry I am now off to work for a couple of days so wont be able to respond, but TIA.

Well, what a thing. :) Thank heavens I left it a couple of days... Dad Banana is alive!!! :D
So, how do I separate the pups? Just doesn't look right to put a spade in... the base of the Dad is well curved; a furtle wih a trowel? The pups are now around a foot tall.
    Anyone, any thoughts please?
    Thank you.  :)
