  Have you pruned it down so low that you only have rootstock left? If you cut it off below the grafting point, you are getting the flowers of the wild type rootstock.

  Hello, thanks for the reply, i have not pruned it at all other than cutting off dead flowers.

  Need to see a photo, but like fidgetbones says, what you have there sounds like rootstock [rosa corymbifera 'laxa'] has taken over...   are there any thorns on the cane with the white flowers?...

  Thanks for the interest,  there are no thorns on the flower stems,  there are some small thorns on the leaves which have 5 leaves.

  Yes sounds like 'laxa' to me... you need to yank those canes off right back to the main trunk.  Your original rose may still be alive, and this will allow it to start growing again.  Once the rootstock takes over the cultivar rose 'Golden Wedding' will gradually die off if action is not taken to stop the rootstock..

  Removed all stems with small white flowers, lightly pruned the rest and now have six nice buds just opening and they are yellow. Many thanks to all who gave advice.
