Laurel being eaten

Looking for some advice on what is causing the damage to my laurel tree.  It has flowered and has lots of new growth but a lot of the foliage is being eaten by something, can anyone help?

Could be a leaf cutter bee.

I think it's bacterial shot hole. Quite common on Laurels. The bacteria enters through cuts on leaves and on branches and is spread by rain and wind, so not easy to control. They are unlikely to damage your shrub if it's well established, but quite unsightly. You can prune the leaves out. Make sure you clean your blades well.

Mine sometimes get a bit of vine weevil damage, but if the shrub is otherwise healthy, I wouldn't be too worried. Just remove anything unsightly, as Borderline says.  :)
A bit of liquid seaweed is beneficial to them now and again, and you can also use that as a foliar feed for any foliage plant. Just don't apply to the foliage it if it's sunny!
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
