Rhus

Has anyone grown this from a root cutting please? (Like it needs any help).  A friend gave me a freshly dug, six inch or so piece of root which I potted up a fortnight ago and here's the daft bit.. there is an inch or so of growth in the last few days that looks remarkably grass-like to me and I'm wondering if it got dug up with some grass root.  Would very small Rhus shoots look like that...?
