Pruning a climbing rose

This is my climbing rose. It’s a David Austin Ena Harkness. We bought and planted it at the end of last summer 2017 and this is how its looking late May 2018. Should I be doing things with this?

Im a total novice and I have no clue. I’ve been trying to read articles online but can’t make head nor tail of them. Particularly the branches on the right with no leaves or flowers, should I be cutting those back?

Ideally I’d like it to cover the whole fence panel in a nice leafy, flowery mass eventually.

It looks pretty good to me. It looks to have put on some good growth in a year.  Put a whole load of manure down for it to feed the rose. Keep picking / dead-heading the roses as they pass and water regularly. Climbing roses bloom best when the leaders are trained laterally, as you have done. The long leader stretching up toward the top of the fence, I would bring that down to perhaps a 45o angle, to encourage blooming on it. How much sun does it get?

I find Paul Zimmerman’s videos extremely helpful, he is also quite funny.

Life's tragedy is that we get old too soon and wise too late.
