It's beautiful. I like informal, loose doubles. The Gruss looks pretty spot on for me. I just have to find a spot to put it in. ;) I will feed mine more this year. I've just put in a Crimson Glory. I can't wait to see how it fares.

I think the Nubia clem was probably a mistake. Ho hum. I'm a sucker for a good pitch. I should know better.

I see that's one of those much touted 'Boulevard' clematis.  I've had a few of those and have been disappointed by some.  I grew 'Tekla' which when I bought it, was bright red, but soon turned pinkish/purple after I planted it... the colour just doesn't last long before it changes...   I've had other Boulevards like 'Ice Blue' which died on me after a couple of years, and now I've got one left called 'Corinne'.  I tried to get rid of it but it grew back so I'm letting it stay, but these are not my favourite clematis I have to say.

I did see one today called 'Bernardine' which looked nice, and that's the same type..

In my experience of these, they do not flower ''all season'' as is claimed either, and that annoys me more than anything..

'Crimson Glory' is a great rose, one I should have mentioned, but I've never grown it, only seen it....  I'm certain it will do well for you in London..

M, David Austin says that Crimson Glory is not a great repeater. Is that your experience? They say Gruss is better for continuous flower....
