Yucca plant (?) dying?

Hello All,

We are seeking advice please, for a plant in our 10 year old garden. We have a lovely mature plant, which we suspect is a yucca, if anyone does not think so please let us know your thoughts.
The plant is about 2.5m high.
Since the winter it has been very droopy, and slightly yellow leaves. We were thinking the snow damaged it?
We have also added recently some grass seeds in front of it, watered copiously everyday, could this explain the damage to the suspected yucca, being waterlogged?
Many thanks in advance if you have any thoughts.

Thomas

I don't think it is a yucca. Maybe a cordyline or phormium.

Thank you, I've just googled pictures of phormium it looks like one indeed. We have no trunk like on a yucca. Thank you!

Definitely phormium, probably phormium tenax. It looks a bit cramped there, but might be the angle of the pic.
Mine took a real battering with the snow and I’d say your looks better than mine, so don’t worry. Chop off any dead leaves and it will look better.
Watering everyday is a bit much, I have never watered mine, i guess you are watering the grass not the plant?  I’d have the border wider, but you have decided to make it narrower and sown the grass I think.

Hello yes I think tenax from the photos I saw earlier. Thanks for the info, yes I'm watering the grass.. I'll cut the dead leaves and see. The border and its plants haven't moved since the plant was very little, yes maybe we should give it a little more space now it has grown
