Is this a weed?

Hello all - Anyone know if this is a weed please? I’m not sure if I planted something but it smells fairly weed-like:

    Is it a penstemon?I would leave it a bit longer until you see flowers . It doesn't look like a weed to me.

    It looks like a penstemon to me too.
    What do weeds smell like? :)

    Thanks @B3 and @fidgetbones I thought I might have planted something there but wasn’t sure. I’ll look through my plant labels. Smells a bit pungent when I run my fingers through it. :#

    I've never noticed a smell on penstemon leaves but I only started growing them last year - so what do I know??
    They're my new favourite plant now, though

    Did you decide because I have one That came up in a planter from a friend.

    Could you please tell me if this is a friend or a foe. It has popped up but can't remember planting it. It looks like a few plants in the garden but I don't think it's a geum but similar  to a wood avens! I think it's a weed. Many thanks.
