Lifting tulips

Advice needed please. I've just lifted some tulips ( I need the large terracotta pots) I want to keep. The leaves are browning but do they still need some moisture or do I keep them dry?  Got them under cover just before it rained hard here - first rain since 27th April!

    Just stick them in a spare pot of soil or compost and water them to settle them in. It helps to give them a little liquid feed as an extra while the foliage dies back. Just put them somewhere sheltered.
    They won't come to much harm if they get a bit dry, but it's best not to have them somewhere that they'll be waterlogged while they're dormant. A happy medium   :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    I leart my lesson last year, tulips,daffs in cheap pots which are then plonked into the nice pots, then lifted out, left to sleep, and pot ready for new insert, and yes, Fairygirl has it nailed.
