Can you grow spuds from supermarket bought varieties?

I was chatting with a friend who asked if I knew if it's possible to grow potatoes from a bag of supermarket bought spuds that have sprouted eyes. Thanks

Potatoes 🥔 grown on farms for supermarkets are treated to stop them chitting , infact there is Company not far from us that Specialising in treating spuds and other crops for storage
They will grow but crop will be very poor
